If we’d have needed another proof point that Sony’s PS3 launch was way less than stellar, just read this February’s title story in PSM, the independent Playstation Magazine. Their 12-page face-off between the PS3 and the Xbox 360 ends basically in a tie between the two new platforms. So much for impressing even your most devoted magazine! Although I do agree with their editor — no matter how you compare the two, the games will decide in the end. And there, PS3 certainly has the better game pipeline, with a lock-up of more exclusives and more desirable franchises, such as Grand Theft Auto.
For now, there’s no desire on my part to go out and spend the bucks to upgrade to a PS3. Or to upgrade to a PS2 plus an Xbox 360. Once GTA4 comes out, though, the story might change quicker than you can say “Beep”.
